Welcome to the Arnold Grummer & Stampendous Blog Hop! Get yourself comfortable and be prepared to be "WOW"ed with these beautiful projects.
This "Earth" mixed-media collage uses many different types and colors of hand made papers. I made four different colored batches and mixed thicknesses, mica powders and plain.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
AG Cotton Linter
AG Iridescent Flakes
Scraps of colored cardstock - shredded
Butterfly Dies: Stampendous!
11X14 Canvas, Acrylic paints, water-based inks in spritzers (blue, green, yellow green), Cricuit font (Plantin School), black sharpie, alcohol ink markers and blender, vintage sheet music, craft glue, clear sealant, and your imagination!
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Brush the top right and bottom left of the canvas with white craft glue, adhere sheet music in each corner. Brush over both pages with craft glue or other decoupage medium.
2. Dry-brush over the music and entire canvas background with acrylic paints: white, yellow, let blue, lt apple green.
3. Spritz background with water-based ink or dye, spritz with water to soften and blend. Let dry completely.
4. Cut out the quote. Glue to the background. This light blue paper was made very thin so it could be cut in my Cricuit. "Paint" over the letters with craft glue. The water-based ink will move around a little, USE THIS to muddy your letters a little. Spritz with water, add more ink if necessary. This photo below shows just how wet this project was to achieve this effect.
5. Mix white acrylic paint and water in a spritzer bottle, spray where needed to get the desired white wash effect on your background.
6. Cut out 6 flower petals and 3 leaves. Use alcohol ink markers to add highlighting and dimension. Arrange the leaves and petals as shown and glue into place. The stamens were made with faux flower stems, that left over plastic piece when you pull off the bloom, dipped into yellow acrylic paint.
7. Cut out the butterfly shapes. (Stamps were not available, the black detailing was done by hand with a black sharpie marker.) Glue butterflies into place. Let dry completely and spray with seal-coating.
This was the most fun I've had in a long time! You just might get your hands dirty on this one :o) I hope you are inspired to create your own mixed media canvas. If you have any questions at all, please leave a commend or share your projects too. Happy Earth Day!

Becky
