DCC SMOOTHFOAM CHALLENGE!

Hello and welcome to the Designer Crafts Connection Manufacturer's Challenge hop!

I made this old fashioned tree center piece using the SmoothFoam as the structure.












SMOOTHFOAM SUPPLIES:
3 Balls: 3", 4", and 6"
1x8" flat circle base

Other supplies:
3/8" wooden dowel
Fabric
3" wide lace
large gold buttons
large star punch
gold foil paper
wire
hot glue gun
Say it in Pearls embellishment (Prima)












Directions:
1. Cut 3" pieces of dowel to assemble as shown. This will create holes for you to locate easier later and pre-poke them to make assembly easier with the fabric on.









2. Cover the base in fabric using a hot glue gun to secure on the bottom.
3. Hot glue lace around the edge using accordion style.
4. Cover the largest ball (6") in fabric, securing with hot glue, but do not go completely over the base and do no cover the hole you made earlier.
5. Place the 3" of dowel previously cut into the base piece hole, put some hot glue on it and around it then slide on the 6" ball.
6. Cut a piece of lace and tie around the base of the ball where the two pieces meet.  Tie a knot and hot glue into place.  Embellish with a gold button. Trim the tails of the lace.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 for the next two balls.
8. Punch two stars from gold card stock and hot glue together with a piece of heavy wire glued in between them.
9. Embellish the star in the center with a "say it in pearls" embellishment.
10. Push the wire / star into the top of the tree.

Festive Friday Blog Hop #6

YES! ANOTHER TREE :o) They are just my FAVORITE.



This tree was really fun, and a little messy.

I spread craft glue (Elmer's) on a non-stick craft sheet approximately 4x6 and covered the glue with a single but full layer of colorful fibers, some metallic. After it tried completely, I peeled it off and cut a triangle from the center holding it horizontally.

I used the two end pieces, bring the uneven edge to the center and overlapping to create the tree shape. I punched a snowflake border (EK Success) from sage card stock and placed it behind the edges of the tree on the background paper.

The gold foil star is Jolee's Boutique. Background paper is GCD Studios.

Festive Friday Blog Hop #5

For me, the "Tree" is the most symbolic of Christmastime. I've had these buttons hanging around for um.............. 8+ years LOL and it was time to give them a purpose. Some of them are fairly small, but Embellie Gellie made my task easier.




This card is 5x7". I cut a piece of textured wallpaper 4.5 x 6.6 then layered it onto patterned card stock. I added some stitched zig zag detailing with gold thread. Next I punched out circles of the patterned paper, using the backside and put dots of The Best Glue Ever! where I wanted the buttons to be. When the glue is dry, use the Embellie Gellie to pick up the buttons and place them onto the glue areas. Viola! Quick and easy. I am a woman of few words :o) If I add a sentiment later it could be a miracle, mostly I write my greetings inside the cards.

CLEARSNAP: "Joy" card

Hello! Welcome all inky crafty people! I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer this month on the Clearsnap Blog. I've enjoyed playing with these products and I hope you will too. This is my last post for my October guest spot, but I hope to be back soon.

I know you may "think" it's a bit early.............. but I'm feeling festive. I've been working on Christmas cards all year long. I love shiny things and shiny things most always land on my projects. These foils were the perfect touch.


CLEARSNAP SUPPLIES:
Glue Gloss
Fluid Chalk Ink Catseye: smoke blue, peacock, harbor, cerulean, royal blue and midnight.
Designer Foils: Goldmine & Holographic Stars
Stylus

OTHER SUPPLIES:
glossy white cardstock, purple rhinestones, Therm-o-web double sided Super Tape,
Tree stamp by Art Impressions, white embossing powder, Clear pigment pad, fine art glitter,
miscellaneous coordinating striped paper.

STEP 1: Trim your glossy cardstock to the size of your project. (4x5 3/4" for this card) Apply Fluid Chalk Ink directly to the glossy card stock with the catseye pad, creating blotches of color.



STEP 2: Continue adding blotches of color until your glossy cardstock is completely covered, use as many colors as you want, I used 6.


STEP 3: Use the Stylus to blend the colors into each other.



STEP 4: Heat set the background. Stamp the image with clear pigment pad and emboss with white embossing powder. Apply Glue Gloss over the entire background and sprinkle with fine art glitter, use more near the base to represent snow.

STEP 5: Hand cut letters and a star from double sided Super Tape and place onto project, apply Designer Foils. I used gold for the sentiment and holographic star on the star shape.



FINALLY: Mount the finished card front to a slightly larger card base of matching paper.
